Widgets have moved beyond the desktop and into dedicated devices. In the future widget powered hardware may serve as a bedside alarm clock and weather report or a Wi-Fi finder built-in to the external of your notebook computer.

Michael Maia, PortalPlayer

Michael Maia has contributed in several different sales and marketing roles at PortalPlayer since July 1999 when he joined as a founder. Currently, he is the Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Media Display Division. Prior to joining the PortalPlayer, from August 1996 to July 1999, Mr. Maia served as senior director of marketing for the information appliances group of National Semiconductor Corporation. From March 1994 to July 1996, Mr. Maia served as vice president of marketing at semiconductor company Cirrus Logic. Mr. Maia holds a B.S. in marketing from San Francisco State University and an M.B.A. from St. Mary's College.
Steve Tomlin, Chumby Industries

Steve Tomlin has been an entrepreneur, senior executive and investor in wireless technology, biotechnology and Internet industries for over 15 years. Since 2001, Steve has been sharing management responsibility and leading the firm's wireless technology investment activities at Avalon Ventures. Prior to that, Steve was a Vice-President of America Online, Inc., CEO of PersonaLogic, Inc. (sold to AOL in 1998), established and ran the initial e-commerce business for QVC, Inc., and also worked at The Walt Disney Company.
