Chris Butler
Bio
Chris Butler is the lead program manager for Windows Live Gallery, Microsoft's personalization portal for widget content. He has worked at Microsoft for over seven years in the Bay area on projects that include MSN Calendar, MSN Hotmail, Hailstorm, Windows Desktop Search, Windows Live Toolbar and the Vista Sidebar. Chris lives in San Francisco and works at Microsoft's Silicon Valley office in Mountain View.

• Launched in July 2006 and grew community into most visited personalization site on the internet with 6.4 million unique users in December 2007 (Nielsen NetRatings). • Lead a team of three program managers. • Set vision and strategy for community including user generated content, advertiser sponsored content and transactional content with Microsoft Points (first within Windows Live; joining Xbox and Zune). • Drove user experience requirements, testing, implementation, deployment and ongoing maintenance. • Coordinated cross-team effort for Personal Expression in Windows and Windows Live including Messenger, Spaces, Live.com, Hotmail, Writer and others. • Presented at conferences regarding widget ecosystem including Web 2.0, PDC, Widget Summit, CES and others. • Evangelized, developed and coordinated agreements with external partner companies.
