Privacy Policy

Information Collection & Use

Widget Summit does not sell, rent, or lease its list of attendees, speakers, sponsors, or web visitors to any company for any purpose. Widget Summit does not print "Who's Who" lists of attendee data or sell off your information to the highest bidder.

Ticket Purchase

Widget Summit attendees must provide personally identifiable information at time of purchase including your full name, e-mail address, billing address, and credit card details.

Credit Card Processing

Widget Summit offers the convenience of remote ticket purchase by card issuing banks of the Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card associations. The nature of such credit lending accounts require safeguards by all involved parties to reduce fraud, charge-backs, and unauthorized use. Widget Summit, in partnership with your bank and its member associations, processes lending requests on your behalf after completing address verification, card present verification, and an authorized user match.

Widget Summit does not store credit card data or billing address details on its servers. Payment data is handled by our upstream merchant processor, Braintree Payment Solutions, inside a purpose-built PCI DSS compliant hardened storage vault. Credit card processing data is transmitted to Braintree servers over a [X BITS] SSL connection to encrypt data in transit and verify the identity of both parties.

Address Verification

Widget Summit collects your name and billing address to prevent fraudulent use of your credit line. Your supplied name, address, city, region, and postal code are passed to your issuing bank, or its partners, for verification against your registered account data. Address verification lowers credit card processing fraud and therefore lowers our credit card processing rates.

Billing address details are not stored by Widget Summit. Basic geographic data -- including city, region, and country -- are translated into a Where on Earth Identifier (WOEID) by Yahoo! for geographical targetting by our staff and possible attendee networking.

Card Security Code

Your credit card security code is never stored by Widget Summit or its payment processors. The card security code is also known as card validation code from MasterCard, card verification value from Visa, and the unique card code by American Express. The card security code is an additional security measure for card-not-present transactions such as e-commerce and a required piece of cardholder data in some regions or countries.

Call for Proposals

Basic contact data including your name and e-mail address is collected through the Widget Summit Call for Proposals system. This basic contact information is needed to process your speaking request and respond to your proposal.

User Profile

You may choose to create a user profile on the Widget Summit website to network with other attendees. Personal information supplied through your profile may be exposed to other Widget Summit attendees and the public Web, according to your preferences.

Widget Summit may conduct searches against popular social networking sites based on your provided e-mail address to assist you in your profile-building process.

On-site event staff will verify your identity using government-issued identification at the time of badge delivery. Our staff and outside service providers do not retain this information and are prohibited by contract from sharing such data with outside parties.
